SANDS is a partnership between the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the Munroe-Meyers Institute-University of Nebraska Medical Center.

AmeriCorps

The Munroe-Meyer institute AmeriCorps program, a program dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities, is proud to support SANDS. In our effort to improve the lives of citizens in our community and across the state who have disabilities, MMI AmeriCorps will coordinate sporting events and launch a "grass roots" advertising campaign to spread the word about the possibilities that SANDS holds for both disabled sportsmen and women and the volunteers who agree to help.

You might be interested to know that in addition to providing community services for individuals with disabilities, MMI AmeriCorps actively RECRUITS individuals with disabilities to join our team and assist us in our efforts. We are focused on incluision of our neighbors with disabilities and work to identify and tear down barriers which prevent participation in community activities.

MMI AmeriCorps is only one program of many in the state of Nebraska and one of thousands of programs nationwide. If you are interested in learning more about AmeriCorps, our volunteer opportunities, or how to serve individuals with disabilities,
